Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to the most common questions about the conference.
When and where is the conference?
Our 19th conference is being held Thursday, October 15 – Saturday, October 17, 2026 at The New York Academy of Medicine in New York City.
The New York Academy of Medicine is located on the Upper East Side at 1216 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10029.
What happens each day of the conference?
Each day has a unique focus that is explored in depth. The conference agenda is plenary, without different simultaneous tracks or stages. Everything is located at the New York Academy of Medicine.
- Thursday, October 15, 2026: The Psychedelic Business Forum
- Friday, October 16, 2026: Science, Medicine, and Psychedelics
- Saturday, October 17, 2026: Psychedelics in the World
In addition to the conference sessions in the auditorium, the social, dining, and community areas of the venue remain open all day.
Where should I stay in New York City?
Horizons presently has no official lodging partners. Any hotel in Manhattan, or riverfront neighborhoods in Brooklyn or Queens near a train station are good options.
When does registration open and close?
Registration for Horizons 2026 is not yet open. We will announce the opening date by email and on our website.
Once open, registration will not close until tickets are sold out. As seats are limited, early registration is recommended for those interested in securing attendance. Walk-up registration at the conference venue may be possible if seats are still available.
How can I apply for a scholarship?
Yes. There are scholarship seats available for every Horizons program, although they are limited in number.
Scholarship applications usually open several months in advance and close a month out from the conference. Applications for Horizons 2026 are not yet open — please watch our website and mailing list for announcements. Once open, we recommend applying as soon as you are able.
Who can apply for a scholarship?
Horizons is primarily supported by registration sales, so the scholarship program is limited to those who simply cannot attend without a scholarship. The scholarship program is open to everyone in need — not just students or medical professionals. We do prioritize applicants with a clear goal of service to a larger community, which we understand can take many forms. Yes, we award scholarships to people who have never been to a conference before, and to people who are new to this field.
What does the scholarship include?
All scholarship registrations include admission to the 3-day conference. Unfortunately, our scholarship program is not adequately funded to provide travel, lodging, or meal support.
Can I submit a proposal to speak?
Thank you for your interest. Horizons does not have a public call for speakers and does not accept unsolicited speaker proposals. Speakers are invited each year by the Horizons program committee, which curates the lineup around the conference's themes.
Where is the conference agenda and speaker line-up?
The agenda and speaker line-up will be published as the program comes together. Watch our website and mailing list for announcements.
Each of the three main conference days has a programmatic theme:
- Thursday, October 15 — Psychedelic Business Forum
- Friday, October 16 — Science, Medicine, and Psychedelics
- Saturday, October 17 — Psychedelics in the World
Where is the agenda of off-site community events?
The week of October 13 – 18, the broader psychedelic community comes alive across New York City around Horizons. Allied organizations, sponsors, and friends of the conference host their own gatherings — networking events, film screenings, panels, performances, and social mixers — in venues throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.
These events are produced and run by their hosts, not by Horizons directly. Many are free or low-cost; some have separate ticketing or RSVP requirements.
A community events calendar will be published closer to the conference.
How can my company become a sponsor or exhibitor?
Horizons welcomes the support of value-aligned brands through sponsorship opportunities at our events. We can also tailor corporate membership packages for organizations that would like their employees to attend our programming.
Please note that while we do offer acknowledgement and exposure to our audience for our sponsors, Horizons does not create sponsored content for advertisers, and does not sell or lease its audience information.
To request our sponsorship prospectus, please contact our team.
EMAIL SPONSORSHow can my organization become a community ally?
The Community Allies program is for value-aligned research, media, activism, community, and peer organizations who help us reach the broader psychedelic community. Allies receive recognition on our website, email newsletters, print programs, and signage, along with registration discounts for their community.
The program is by invitation only, but we welcome nominations of worthy organizations we may have overlooked. To nominate your organization, or another, please contact our team.
EMAIL ALLIESHow can I support Horizons with a charitable donation?
Horizons Media, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) educational charity that welcomes gifts of all sizes from philanthropic foundations and individual donors. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Donations support our scholarship fund, content exploring diversity, equity, and inclusion topics, and film projects that help the public understand psychedelics.
To discuss giving opportunities, please contact our team.
EMAIL USCan I volunteer at the conference?
As we are a community-oriented event, we welcome volunteer help. We begin to check this email a couple of months out from the conference.
EMAIL VOLUNTEERSAre Horizons tickets tax-deductible?
Registration is not tax-deductible.
How do I get to the venue?
Bicycles and transit are recommended ways to arrive. The venue is proximate to subway stations and bikeshare docks.
The nearest train is the 6 at 103rd St. You can also take the 2 / 3 train to 110th Street and walk the remaining distance to the venue through the north east corner of Central Park. Or please consider a lovely bike ride through Central Park.
The venue does not offer on-site parking. We do not recommend driving or parking in Manhattan, in general. If you require parking, make an advance reservation with a garage.
Is the venue accessible?
The New York Academy of Medicine is ADA compliant for mobility needs.
Due to the historic nature of the building, it is helpful (but not essential) that you contact us if you plan on attending in a wheelchair so that we can best support your arrival and viewing position.
If you have hearing, visual, or other accessibility needs, please contact us so that we can best support you.
Is there a coat or bag check?
The New York Academy of Medicine has a coat check, and can accept small bags without valuables until it reaches capacity. Please arrive early if using the coat check is important to you.
May I photograph or record the talks?
In order to create a trustworthy environment for sharing and at the speakers' request, no recording of the event is permitted by anyone for any reason. We also ask that you consider any personal stories shared during the event to be private unless otherwise noted.
You can view our full Press and Recording Policy below.
Will continuing education credit be available?
Horizons will not be offering CE / CME credits in 2026. The CE / CME accreditor landscape continues to be a difficult fit for psychedelics-focused programming, and we are unable to offer credits this year.

Right to refuse entry and eject attendees. The Event reserves the right to refuse admission to or eject any person, at Event's sole discretion, whose conduct is disorderly, disruptive, disrespectful, or who fails to follow the Event's rules or directions, or whose language is vulgar or abusive, or who is visibly intoxicated.

Code of Conduct & Safer Space Policy
Horizons strives to maintain a professional atmosphere at its events, and invites the community to help us uphold professional standards of conduct.
We encourage everyone — board members, speakers, staff, and attendees — to be proactive in creating an atmosphere of safety and non-discrimination.
By attending Horizons as an attendee, board member, staff, speaker, contractor, vendor, or volunteer, you are agreeing to abide by this code of conduct; you are recognizing that behavior that violates this code of conduct will render you subject to expulsion, termination of contract, or other consequences pertaining to your involvement with the conference; you are acknowledging that your involvement with Horizons is subject to the discretion of the organizers; and you are waiving all civil actions pertaining to such consequences.
We do not tolerate behavior that is unsafe, abusive, or discriminatory, including but not limited to:
- Making disrespectful or prejudiced remarks, particularly with regard to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, age, religion, ethnicity or national origin, physical appearance, physical ability, or mental competence. We understand disrespect and prejudice to be functions of the impact experienced by the person at whom the remarks are directed, rather than of the intent of the speaker.
- Unwanted sexual or romantic attention.
- Unwanted physical, verbal, or digital contact, including intimidation, coercion, threats, stalking, or following.
- Photography, videography, or recording focused on an individual without their consent and clear expectations as to how such captured media will be used.
- Deliberate disruption of conference proceedings and related activities.
- Display of sexual or discriminatory imagery.
- Leveraging positions of power for sexual or discriminatory purposes, which includes the behavior of board members, staff, speakers, volunteers, and leaders of affiliate organizations.
- For licensed professionals, any behavior that is a violation of the ethical obligations of their profession, including all attorneys, mediators, medical doctors, clinicians, therapists, and counselors.
- Advocating for, encouraging, or condoning any of the above behavior.
We will take action to maintain a professional and safe environment at Horizons events. This may include working to reduce the impact of unacceptable behavior that occurs outside of our events, particularly at similar or affiliated community events.
Reporting
We encourage all community members to report unacceptable behavior, and take these reports seriously. We collect, store, and evaluate reports in collaboration with a professional neutral mediator who is also a NYS-licensed attorney.
If anyone has unacceptable behavior on the part of any Horizons board member, staff, speaker, or attendee to report, they may do so via our neutral mediator and community ethics advocate, Andy Izenson, of Diana Adams Law & Mediation, PLLC.
Mr. Izenson can be reached at [email protected], or anonymously at NYC Psychedelics Community Information Gathering.
Reports may remain confidential in part or whole, and Mr. Izenson will not share details with the Horizons organization unless requested by the reporting person.
We encourage any reporting party who wishes to seek support around concerns that may involve civil or criminal liability for Horizons, any person affiliated with Horizons, or the subject of the complaint, to assist our team in providing the best support possible, while also protecting our conference and community, by providing contact information through the channels available. The agency, safety and confidentiality of reporting parties is a top priority for our team.
We will announce additional procedures for reporting unacceptable behavior at the conference itself well prior to the event dates.
Responses & Enforcement
We evaluate and respond to reports and make decisions about how best to maintain a safe and inclusive environment in consultation with Mr. Izenson, a professional, neutral mediator and community ethics advocate who is also a NYS-licensed attorney.
We may take a variety of actions in service of our goals of safety and non-discrimination. These might include written or verbal warnings, declining entry, expulsion from the conference (without refund), or immediate termination of status as a board member, staff, speaker, contractor, vendor, or volunteer.
Where the person reporting a concern provides specific details or contact information, or expresses desire to participate in Horizons' response, whether by providing input, through a mediated or restorative process, or in any other way, our response will be guided by their safety, needs, and input to the extent possible, practicable, and requested. Where a report is made anonymously and/or without expressed desire to participate further, we will utilize our best judgment and discretion, with the input of our community ethics advocate.
When appropriate, we will try to resolve conflicts in the community via mediation and to discourage cycles of escalation and public feuding.
We will announce additional information about responding to reports and enforcement actions at the conference itself well prior to the event dates.
Privacy Policy
We only use, process, and store your personal information for the purpose of planning, operating, and marketing Horizons programs.
Your information may be used, processed, and stored on various IT platforms and accessed by Horizons employees, vendors, and contractors for the purposes described above.
We do not share, sell, or lease your personal information to third parties for other purposes, unless required by law. (At the time of this update, we have never received a legal request for personal information.)
